Classic car enthusiasts, car clubs and new car launch promoters alike are increasingly finding their way to our breathtaking Northumberland castle hotel, here at Langley Castle.

We may be a medieval and highly authentic castle hotel, but we are also well-equipped to cater for all types of car owner and are even home to a Tesla electric charging point.

Langley Castle Hotel, is located in Langley-on-Tyne, between Haydon Bridge and Hexham in Northumberland has become the destination of choice for member gatherings of northern car clubs.  Our stunning seven-feet-thick, fortified castle walls are highly Instagrammable backdrops for the cars that arrive, whatever their age, and there is ample room for club members to park up.

Food and drink can be served to car club members either inside our medieval castle, which dates from 1350, or in our brand-new tipi, available for private-hire functions.  Menus range from relaxed dining and afternoon tea to 2AA Rosette dining in the Josephine Restaurant.

Then there is the potential thrill of travelling to Langley Castle via the A686 – a route from Penrith that encompasses the incredibly steep Hartside Pass and its hairpin bends and which affords views of Helvellyn, Skiddaw and the Scottish mountain of Criffel.  This route, which passes Langley Castle Hotel, was named one of the AA’s ‘Ten Great Drives’.

Any car enthusiast finds this journey a temptation hard to resist, whilst the Hartside Pass is a much-loved location for car launch photography, with dramatic valleys to look down on, from a height of nearly 2000 feet above sea level.

In recent months, Langley Castle has welcome Porsche owners, classic car owners and car enthusiasts from Rotary Clubs, who have showcased stunning vehicles in its shadow, having negotiated the winding bends up Hartside.  Those needing a little electric top-up have a standard electric charging point on hand, alongside the Tesla charger.

“We love seeing the thrill that car club members enjoy when they head up our drive and see Langley Castle for the first time,” says Executive General Manager, Margaret Livingstone-Evans.  “Often, they have travelled via the A686, so seeing the castle is the culmination of something that is a truly memorable experience.  We are looking forward to welcoming many car enthusiasts in the coming months, as we find that we and they are a perfect fit.”
